Guanaja Fly Kits

The Island of Guanaja and Fly Fish Guanaja is the original home of Guide Flies and the Guanaja Fly Tyers Guild. All of our flies are first designed and tested on the islands challenging permit, bonefish and tarpon by the resident veteran guides Rankin, Pablo, Darren and Edwin. Once they are perfected, we share these patterns with the anglers that come to the island in pursuit of these elusive grand slams! 

The island is surrounded with expansive mangrove estuaries, shallow reefs, white sand flats, long stretches of turtle grass flats and deep channels the permit use like a highway. The docks and mangrove lined channels can also provide great shots at tarpon and the occasional snook.

Each kit is hand selected to match the diverse flats of Guanaja and the Bay Islands. You are just as likely to cast to permit tailing in 18" deep tidal pools as you are to permit cruising in the deep channels along the grass flats. Sandy Bay and the beaches along Michael's Rock are beautiful white sand flats where large, spooky bonefish often crush the right fly.
