The Avalon Shrimp fly is a staple for every permit angler's box. This pattern has enticed permit, tarpon, and bonefish across the Caribbean since it was first designed.
Caribbean fly fishing guides saw a limitation to what was commercially available in sizes, colors, and weight. Permit react to a wider variety of colors than just tan and white, so we added custom colors to our catalog. Colors like Spawning Orange, a Key Lime/Blue, and Olive are never offered to permit and as a result, produce less refusals and surprisingly aggressive reactions.
We also expanded the Avalon into some micro #6 sizes for shallow tailing permit. These have been trip savers for many of our customers and landed permit in Cuba, Belize, Andros, Mexico, and Guanaja.
