Our version of one of the most popular permit flies of all time. Because of the high demand for a more realistic and custom series of flex body crabs, we designed our series of Guide Flexo Crab. So far they have gotten the nod of approval from every guide that has tied one on.
We make these with the profile, colors, and markings that entice reactions on even the most pressured permit, triggerfish, and bonefish flats.
Each Guide Flexo Features:
Realistic Living Epoxy Eyes
Bright Orange Brass eyes to mimic natural eggs
Premium Umpqua X-Series Flats Hook for 2021
A more natural profile than most other commercially tied flex style crabs.
A Guide Flexo for Every Flat:
Sand Camo- Perfect for mixed bottom sandy flats, and makes a great universal color.
Marl Grey- Designed for the larger permit and bonefish of the Marls of Abaco, Bahamas but match any grey, rock bottom or reef.
White- A perfect match for any white sandy bottom. If it wasn't for the orange brass eyes and red-tipped claws, it would almost disappear. Ideal for destinations such as Cuba, Bahamas, and Ascension Bay.
Olive- Our dark/light olive color mixes in perfect over turtle grass and matches the green crabs that are found all over permit flats of Belize, Mexico, and Honduras.
Brown- Ideal for darker sand bottoms or anywhere the crabs have darker bodies. These are a great match for fiddler crabs and burrowing mud crabs.
Blue Claw- Blue accents on the claws and body to match the common blue crabs found around the world.
SPECIAL EDITIONS:
-BRIGHT OLIVE
-FLUORESCENT GREEN
-HOT PURPLE
-TAN/YELLOW
-PURPLE/ORANGE
Meet the Guanaja Fly Tyers Guild. They are the primary supplier and designers for Guide Flies and the inspiration to pass on the art of fly tying to this incredibleisland community.
It started by recognizing the natural fly tying talent that existed in the community of Guanaja. The guides and family members of the Fly Fish Guanaja staff had learned the basics of fly tying and made creative flies for technical permit and bonefish that were not easily fooled.
Over the the last three years they have worked hard to perfect their craft. What began as an experiment in the beach front cabana, has turned into one of the greatest small business opportunities for the Island of Guanaja.
The team of fly tyers that make the Guanaja Fly Tyers Guild is instructed and led by Dave McKenna. They work daily to make the custom tied flies you can purchase through our website. They are self managed and work with an entrepreneurial approach to their business of fly tying.
Through the challenges of passing hurricanes and the Covid-19 pandemic, they have persevered and worked with pride to make the flies we offer here.
We all thank you sincerely for the support and orders that have helped bring the entire team through the hardest parts of the past year. We are very excited to share our newest flies and designs with you!
